Nice logo. Doesn't say FAU anywhere on it, but narrows the loacation down to Palm Beach County.
What a joke!
It doesn't say "Boca Raton" on it either.
When was the last time you saw a logo for an event with just the name of the county.
Call me crazy, but I'd say the Palm Beach County Sports Commision (a group notorious for doing nothing to help FAU) had a hand in this one.
Classy.
DUMB logo just from advertising point of view. "Palm Beach Conty", wow, pretty big area to look in to find the game. Boca should be the ones most pissed, but it should have read Boaa Raton at FAU Stadium just for better info on the game location to the ticket buying public.
That or FAU has ALREADY become synonymous with large sports events in Palm Beach County!
Reason Boca Raton or FAU are not mention is because The Palm Beach County is paying for this event. Not FAU or Boca Raton. Last time I looked FAU and Boca are in Palm Beach County as usually South County has been over Looked. Sure hope every thing goes well at this event Look what happen during the Battle of Florida and the Boca Jet Little league Championship events. Lets keep our fingers cross that this event goes well !!!.
NO ONE knows about this event. It will be a huge bust.
Mac - Do you follow lacrosse?
Do you know who's playing?
If you dont know lacrosse then it wasn't aimed at you.
As far as the logo it is not an FAU event, they are paying to use the stadium, wow you guys are unbelievable sometimes.
@Dusky, I am a huge sports fan and the fact is I knew a long time ago this was coming. BUT, the very very few people know it is happening. I don't care who is putting it on. Maybe they should have promoted it more. I don't want to hurt the LAX world's feelings but this may be worse than the last FAU football game attendance. Sorry if you think we, I ,are too much.JMHO
Glad to see the local media gushing over the 4,000 at the MLL game on Saturday.
Funny that when there is three times that many at an FAU football game it's a "dissapointing" or "sparse" crowd.
You can't compare a Lacrosse game with a div 1 college football game. From that perspective, I would see why 4,000+ for a first MLL game is worthy where a D1 college football game bringing in 8,000 is not so impressive IMO.
MLL does not draw huge anywhere, I think only two of 8 teams top 5K per game. So put in perspective of MLL as compared to FBS football,(especially being there is no local team in MLL) it was a good crowd.
If they get or have an investor, next summer there will be a MLL team playing out of FAU stadium!
REAL nice story on the MLL All-Star game by Chuck King! Nice pic too. So nice to hear the great reception the stadium is getting from media pros who have seen EVERYTHING out there. Let's hope Boca can land a team , the stadium needs all the events it can to bring in revenue, which is good for everyone at FAU. Too bad the woman's pro soccer team was folded by the league - STUPID move by them IMHO!
Major League Lacrosse looks like it could be returning to Owlcatraz. According the Major League Lacrosse web site the FAU football stadium will be the site of a regular season Major League Lacrosse game between Hamilton and Rochester on June 22. I'm hearing the contract to play at FAU isn't signed yet, but apparently the league wants it to happen.
There is a belief that an MLL team is considering relocating to South Florida. This would be a Hamilton home game. You do the math.
You'll recall that MLL held it's All-Star game at FAU last summer.
Ya mean we did'nt lose our MLL interest by accepting a $6M GIFT from our terrible stadium naming partner? Wow!
Enough with the OWLCATRAZ jokes, I know there will be endless jokes about GEO Stadium. Why can we all say thanks to the GEO Group for their interest and support to FAU, sure hope more Local and Major Companies will follow. We need all the help possible in getting FAU Athletic Programs on a winning track and it's not playing the game but in Educational Studies and Training Facilities. Why should FAU loose talent to other Division 1 or Division 1AA programs so let the sponsor's come foward.. Lets face it - we joke about our Stadium name but there is nothing said about area High Schools bumping two Division 1 Football programs from a Saturday starting time to a Friday night time slot. Are you tired of having the yoke / joke on us - I am !.
