Player who de-committed from Ole Miss plans to visit FAU this weekend.

This  time of year, alot of kids are using visits as a" fun thing to do". I hope that our coaches can convince  a few of there "long shot picks" to want to play at FAU. It is good to see that we have stretched our recruiting zone. It's about time. Looking at some of these kids profiles and the schools showing interest in them, shows that these schools will go where ever to land a great player. We need to do the same. If you were a kid in some landlocked state and had the chance to play in Boca Raton, in a new stadium, that would be tempting. I'm hoping for a recruiting year better than last ( not that last year was bad ). I just believe that we need to improve every year from now on. No more talk aboutthe stadium project. GO OWLS !

Just chatted with Andre Allen. His visit is postponed until next week. He said he's still excited to take the visit.

Shalom Ogbonda, a 6-4, 232-pound defensive end from Sugar Land (Texas)-Kempner is the first player to commit to the Owls for the Class of 2012

With such a long time to go , lets hope that he stays healthy , improves , and dosen't change his mind. There are SO many things that may influence a kids decision. When a kid can commit and stick to his word ......that always says alot about  the young man and his family. That is the kind of athlete any school would want. Lets cross our finger and keep recruiting hard. Remember......all the teams we will play are out doing the same thing. GO OWLS!

With all of the kids attending the football camps, I hope FAU is taking them all past the stadium. They really need to take advantage of this situation.

I know the last thing they did during last week's camp was organize a tour of the stadium site.

Schnellenberger is certainly taking advantage of this opportunity. Why not? He's waited for years to be able to do this and now he finally gets his chance.

You can sense FAU's recruiting strategy is changing.

FAU would gladly take Jupiter's Tyler Cameron, but do the Owls really need another QB?

I think a QB is not a priority with Kane coming in, but if he wanted to play locally, of course you take him. Kane will be VERY good in a couple of years. WR is  #1. We need a deep threat to open up the field. I also like the way FAU is changing their attitude toward recruiting. Look for better players in any state. You never know which one will fall in love with FAU and SO. FL.

Just read the story about Zeke Turner. He is a very, very good reciever. Is he better than the WR's coming in ?.....Probably. He is a three star that FAU let slip out of town and he would be a huge improvement. If his fellow Delray 2012  WR Robinson could be added this year and you have the next few year  of wide outs in place. WR problem solved.

Any new info on the transfer of Zeke Turner or the visit from Andre Allen?  I heard Allen wants to be closer to his family, but FIU is showing him a lot of attention. Are we still making an effort to get him? Sorry , I know it's way early , but i am a recriuting nut. I want FAU to stay ahead of teams like FIU, Marshall ,MTSU,  Memphis,Central Michigan and USF. They all seem to be after the same players we are.  Due to the location, Troy has an advantage over us in the panhandle, but we need to take the rest of the state.

Allen didn't make it to campus. The recruiting effort is hampered a bit because this is a dead period where the NCAA prohibits coaches from contacting high school players.

As far as Turner, nothing new. I'm starting to get the feeling FAU isn't sure Turner is better than the guys that are coming in. That being said, there is still time for things to evolve.

Just read the Zeke Turner story.Although I think it would have been nice if he had signed straight out of high school, I have to agree that maybe FAU isn't for him. We signed a number of quality WR this year and to find a way to add him may send our young players the wrong message. Groom the players that wanted to come to FAU and not any be default. A player that wanted to play for FIU ,and not FAU , sould not be rewarded by us. Good call.

Now I know he wasn't for FAU !
