Owls add another
Most of the time coaches recruit players. However, one player who committed to FAU on Sunday was actively recruiting the Owls.

Florida Atlantic’s second big recruiting weekend is already yielding positive results.
The Owls received their sixth commit of this recruiting season on Sunday from a player who actively sought out FAU.
The biggest selling point this time? Howard Schnellenberger, himself.
“I liked him more than any coach I’ve met so far,” said Sumter (S.C.) quarterback Stephen Curtis. “I think a lot of him.”
Former FAU quarterback coach Jeff Brohm first contacted Curtis during the spring, but after FAU didn’t keep in touch Curtis started actively seeking out FAU.
A couple of months ago Curtis called FAU’s athletic department to find out where to send his recruiting tape, which Curtis said showed the 6-foot-3, 220-pound quarterback throwing for nearly 2,800 yards and 36 touchdowns during his senior season. Curtis also rushed for 15 scores.
Curtis said FAU coaches were hinting all weekend that they were going to make an offer. Schnellenberger made it official Sunday morning.
“Once I saw the campus and met all the players and the coaches, I knew it was right,” Curtis said.
Curtis is the second quarterback to commit to FAU this week. On Thursday, North Broward Prep’s Brandon Doughty committed to the Owls.
FAU quarterback Jeff Van Camp was Curtis’ host for the weekend.
Curtis already had offers from Furman, Liberty and Holy Cross. Clemson was also showing interest.
“I’m excited and relieved,” Curtis said. “I’m just excited that the recruiting process is over and that I’m committed to a Division I program.”
