Florida Atlantic coach Carl Pelini has finalized the football team's spring practice schedule, which will culminate with the Owls' annual spring game on Saturday, April 20.
Spring practices will begin on Monday, March 18, giving the Owls a week back at school following spring break.
"I didn't want to start spring ball the day they got back from spring break," Pelini said. "The intention was to give them a week to settle into classes after spring break and then have five weeks."
FAU will practice on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays leading up to the spring game. In a departure from previous years, the Owls will not practice on Saturdays.
Not practicing on the weekend allows FAU to stretch what had been a four-week schedule into a five-week schedule. It also affords the team extra meeting time to review the week's practice.
NCAA rules limit the number of spring practices to 15, including the spring game.
This will be Carl Pelini's second spring practice as FAU's coach.
Pelini and the Owls' signed five junior college players in December. Those five are at FAU and are expected to participate in spring drills.
