The Dragan is slowly being unleashed upon Florida Atlantic. Dragan Sekelja has recently stepped up his play and the Owls will need him to continue that success when they kick off a two-game road trip at Arkansas-Little Rock on Thursday.

In the past two games against Troy and North Texas, Sekelja has scored 14 points, nabbed 10 rebounds, recorded 6 assists and a block.

While Owls coach Mike Jarvis is pleased with Sekelja’s recent play he still expects better from the 7-foot center.

“He needs to work and play harder. He needs to play as hard as he can,” Jarvis said. “He needs to remember that it’s OK to get off the ground. He needs to start going after every ball with two hands and being the player he’s capable of which will start to happen when he starts to be more aggressive particularly after the ball whether it’s on offense or defense.”

Jarvis said Sekelja has all the tools to be a dominant player and the only thing holding him back is him.

“God gave him a great body,” Jarvis said. “Not only did he give him height, he gave him good hands. He gave him a lot of skills that a lot of smaller guys don’t have and he should be much better than he is. The only thing preventing him from being better is him.”
