After another disappointing second-half collapse at Arkansas-Little Rock on Thursday, Florida Atlantic is looking to bounce back. But that won’t be easy when they face Arkansas State on the road Saturday.

FAU narrowly defeated the Red Wolves 72-65 in their first meeting of the season in Boca Raton on Dec. 1, but Owls coach Mike Jarvis said his team is going to have to step up if they hope to come away with a similar result in Jonesboro.

“It’s different. We’re playing at Arkansas State,” he said. “We have to play a lot better than we played them the first time. We’re not playing at home.”

But Jarvis expects more out of his team.

“I think the whole team needs to step up not any one person,” he said. “Everybody on that team could be better.”

If the Owls have any chance of defeating the Red Wolves they’re going to have to play a lot better than they did in the second half against UALR, which includes limiting turnovers, making free throws and finishing down the stretch, something that doomed them in the loss against the Trojans.

“The key to winning any game on the road is taking care of the basketball,” Jarvis said. “Not getting rattled when you get behind because you’re probably going to get behind and playing with a lot of passion, a lot of energy.”
