FAU loses another commitment, this time to a player who was swayed by a school's academic reputation.

The roller coaster ride that is the recruiting process has reached another downward slope for FAU.

Days after learning that top quarterback prospect Brandon Doughty had reneged on his commitment to Florida Atlantic, Owls coaches learned that another player penciled into the 2010 recruiting class won’t be in Boca Raton come the fall.

And like Doughty, who transferred his verbal commitment to a Western Kentucky team that went winless in its first year at Division I-A, this recruit has committed to a program generally considered to be at a lower level than FAU’s.

“After speaking with coach (Kurt) Van Valkenburgh and coach (Dale) Williams, he had another opportunity to play up at UMass,”
