Florida Atlantic will face a familiar opponent in its first home conference game as a member of Conference USA.

Middle Tennessee will come to Boca Raton on September 21 for the first official C-USA home game in school history. Both MTSU and FAU announced last week that they were jumping from the Sun Belt to C-USA in 2013 – a year earlier than originally expected.

The Owls will also end the season in a familiar way, hosting Florida International in the traditional Shula Bowl on November 30. The two schools had been Sun Belt rivals. Like FAU, FIU will be experiencing its first C-USA season.

In between C-USA foes Marshall (Oct. 12) and Tulane (Nov. 2) will get their first chances to see FAU's football stadium.

The Owls' first ever C-USA game will take place on the road at East Carolina on September 7 – the season's second week. This could be the only time the Pirates and Owls meet. East Carolina has announced it will leave C-USA for the Big East after this season, as has Tulane.

The East Carolina game will be part of a three-game road swing to start the season. The Owls will open at Miami on August 31 and will travel to South Florida on Sept. 14 before MTSU comes to town. FAU also has a relatively late-season non-conference road game at Auburn on October 26.

Five of FAU's 12 games will be at home, including the final two of the season that features a game against independent New Mexico St. prior to the finale against FIU.

FAU will also have mid-season byes on Oct. 19 and November 9.

Cute kid

Obviously to improve their field goal kicking :) *ducks*

Last week FAU added Niko Peros, a 2-year-old suffering from Fanconi anemia, to its football team. Here's a story about it from Care To Click .

Don't look for QB Quez Johnson to be named C-USA Offensive Player of the Week. He wasn't nominated. FAU chose Lucky Whitehead instead.

Free falling...45-38. WKU won the first half 31-14. FAU won the second half 31-7. Almost like watching two seperate games.
