FIU 11, FAU 9 Top-seeded FAU is eliminated from the Sun Belt Conference Tournament after losing to rival Florida International for the second time in two days.

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Florida Atlantic was five outs away from advancing to the Sun Belt Conference Tournament Championship game and one of its last orders of business Saturday against FIU was to retire shortstop Garrett Wittels one last time to end his 52-game hitting streak.

With one out in the eighth, the Owls allowed Wittels to keep his streak going, then surrended control of the game to the Golden Panthers, who defeated the Owls 11-9 after a late-game rally.
The loss eliminated the Owls from the Sun Belt Conference Tournament, but FAU is still likely headed to the NCAA Regionals with an at-large berth.
