FAU’s Alex Hudak is the Sun Belt Conference Player of the Week and Ryan Garton the Sun Belt’s Pitcher of the Week, the conference office announced Tuesday.

After its three-game sweep of Alabama, Florida Atlantic players won both of the weekly awards given out Tuesday by the Sun Belt Conference.
Outfielder Alex Hudak was named the Sun Belt’s Player of the Week and pitcher Ryan Garton was named the Pitcher of the Week the conference office announced.
Hudak was 6-of-12 over the weekend and had seven RBI. Hudak had two home runs and five RBI in the Owls’ 9-4 victory on Sunday which gave FAU the sweep vs. the Crimson Tide, its first over an SEC opponent since taking three games from Kentucky in 1999.
Garton was the starting pitcher and picked up the victory in the first game of the 2012 season, 5-2 Owls’ victory. Garton had seven strikeouts, allowed just three hits and was charged with just one earned run in six innings vs. Alabama.
FAU was also named the CollegeBaseballInsider.com team of the week after its sweep over the Crimson Tide.
The Owls (3-0) are ranked No. 34 in the Perfect Game College Top 50.
FAU plays its home opener vs. Manhattan on Friday at 6:30 p.m. in the first of a four-game series vs. the Jaspers.
