FAU coach Mike Jarvis has spent much of this season pining for a true point guard.
He may have found one in Cass Tech (Michigan) senior D'Andre Johnson.
Johnson visited FAU this weekend and announced his decision to play for FAU on Monday via Twitter.
At 6-foot-1 with an extremely quick first step, Johnson has the ability to create offense. He is strong in transition and has improved his jump shot over the past year. He is also a strong ball defender – another aspect Jarvis has been looking for.
Johnson has offers from Northeastern, Central Michigan, Western Michigan, St. Bonaventure and Lehigh. He says he's visited Youngstown St. and Notre Dame and is not planning on visiting any more schools.
“I just wanted to show some gratitude to FAU - to show them they were one of my No. 1 schools,” said Johnson, who is averaging 17 points and 7 assists as a senior.
Should he commit, Johnson would become the third member of FAU basketball's 2013 recruiting class. Jupiter center Grant Pelchen and Gill St. Bernard guard Chris Jackson signed with FAU during the early signing period.
