BOCA RATON – FAU coach Mike Jarvis knows the task ahead of the Owls and he knows it won’t be easy.
To win the Sun Belt Conference Tournament, which begins Saturday in Hot Springs, Ark., the Owls will have to win four games in four days after missing out on one of the three first-round byes.
“It’s incredibly tough task to win four games in four days,” said FAU coach Mike Jarvis. “To win four is tough, but not impossible.”
FAU, which was in the hunt for the No. 1 seed a little over a week ago, instead fell to No. 8 after an ill-timed three-game losing streak.
But Jarvis will begin practicing Monday to prepare the Owls for the Tournament.
“There’s a whole new season that begins next week in Hot Springs,” Jarvis said. “On Monday we’ll go back to work.”
FAU will face No. 9 seed South Alabama at 3:15 p.m. Saturday. The winner will face No. 1 seed Troy, which will earn a post-season NIT berth if it doesn’t win the SBC Tournament.
