BOCA RATON - The return trip to FAU Arena for Winter Park’s Brett Comer, who has already committed to the Owls, is a little different from the last time he played here.
In February, Winter Park played Pine Crest in a game televised on ESPN2. On Friday Winter Park vs. University School was just one of three games going at the same time at The Burrow during the Mike Jarvis Team Camp.
Welcome to the summer season for high school basketball teams.,
“It’s all these team camps after team camps,” Comer said. “This one is going to be good and after this it’s the Florida camp.”
But the camp season is off to a good start at FAU, which sold-out its team camp with 36 teams, up from 20 last season.
“The camp went really well last year and people must have heard about it,” said FAU assistant coach Mike Jarvis II. “We had a little more time this year to promote it.”
This weekend’s camp is using not only the courts at FAU Arena, but a court at FAU’s student recreation center and off-campus courts at Spanish River and Pope John Paul High Schools.
