FAU wide receiver Amos Wood won’t return to the team for academic reasons leaving the Owls thin at receiver.

BOCA RATON – Florida Atlantic receiver Amos Wood, who would have been a redshirt sophmore next season and was expected to compete for a starting job, has left the team for academic reasons, according to team sources.
Wood was listed behind Lester Jean on the official depth chart released before spring drills, but he missed a large portion of spring drills to concentrate on academics. Wood only practiced on Fridays and Saturdays during spring while he focused on his schoolwork.
Wood’s departure is another blow to an already thin receiving corps. Redshirt freshman Jamal Davis left the team during spring drills as he prepared to transfer, possibly to Georgetown.
The 6-foot, 170-pound Wood played in two games last season after red-shirting in 2008.
