Florida Atlantic received responses from six financial institutions interested in the stadium component of the Innovation Village project, Athletics Director Craig Angelos said Tuesday.
“We’re encouraged we received the responses, now we just have to go through them and see how viable they really are,” Angelos said.
Tuesday was the deadline for banks to respond to FAU with their proposals.
Angelos said he hasn’t gone over all the details of the proposals, but said that three of the proposals appear to offer terms to which FAU would be amenable.
A selection committee will discuss the proposals next week.
FAU is hoping the proposals are in the $60 million-range to finance the stadium, which Angelos still hopes can open on Sept. 17, 2011.
“I wasn’t able to take a look at them because they have to go through the procurement process,” Angelos said. “Hopefully at least one is something that we can run with.”
If the committee is able to select one of the proposals, FAU will attempt to have the agreement approved in April and could break ground after final approval from the state Board of Governors in June.
