FAU takes two at Tigue

> FAU 4, Louisiana-Lafayette 3: FAU defeats Louisiana-Lafayette Sunday and takes two-of-three games from the Ragin’ Cajuns over the weekend to win the Sun Belt Conference series at Tigue Moore Field.

FAU is showing it is getting the hang of winning Sun Belt Conference games on the road.

On Sunday, the Owls won their second consecutive road Sun Belt series this season by defeating  Louisiana-Lafayette 4-3 on Sunday at Tigue Moore Field in Lafayette, La.

After taking two of three from Troy and Arkansas-Little Rock this season and FIU and Arkansas State at the end of last season, the Owls have won taken the last five series from Sun Belt foes.

Dan Scheffler homered in the third inning and Mike Alabaladejo had an RBI single in the sixth for the Owls.

FAU pitcher Kevin Alexander (3-2) had his second consecutive strong outing as he allowed two runs in six innings before turning the ball over to Barry Rooks, Ryan Bernal and Andy Mee, who pitched a perfect ninth inning for his fourth save of the season.

Moving forward: P Kevin Alexander, a freshman, is solidifying himself as a starter with a quality outing after his CG last week. …1B Dan Scheffler took the team-lead with his 6th HR of the year. …DH Eddie Cassidy was 2-for-3.

Moving backward: 2B Raymond Church was 0-for-3 and had a error that loaded the bases in the eighth…P Barry Rooks looked to be back to his old self, but then gave up a HR in the 8th that cut FAU’s lead to 4-3.

Stat download: FAU was 5-of-12 with runners on base.

Up Next: FAU travels to face Miami, ranked No. 12 in the latest NCBWA poll, on Wednesday at 6 p.m. for the first of three games vs. the Hurricanes this season.
