Former Florida Atlantic tight end Jason Harmon is scheduled to have contact with three NFL teams in the coming weeks, his agent Glen Lansky said.
Harmon will be put through some drills in Tampa at the Buccaneers local workout day on April 8, then attend Miami’s local workout the following day before meeting with Jacksonville coaches early the next week.
“There are several scouts that describe him as having the best hands in the southeast, and that was a quote,” Lansky said.
Harmon caught 48 passes for 649 yards for the Owls in 2009 – both tops on the team. Six of those catches went for touchdowns.
Though he played tight end for the Owls, most NFL scouts view Harmon as a wide receiver or hybrid back as a pro. Harmon grabbed scouts’ attention during the workouts leading up to the Texas vs. The Nation game.
He had hoped to increase his draft stock by running the 40 in the 4.5 range during FAU’s Pro Day earlier this month, but instead ran a disappointing 4.62.
Lansky said Harmon attended a workout for the Canadian Football League’s Hamilton Tiger Cats in Lakeland for the purpose of getting another time and produced a 4.55 sprint.
FAU has never had a player selected in the NFL Draft. This year’s NFL Draft will take place April 22-24.
