Taking one away

After allowing an early score, the defense held the offense on the final two drives of the 7-on-7 behind a strong play by Marcus Bartels.

While Florida Atlantic’s Board of Trustees was busy approving the financing of the on-campus football stadium, FAU players were on the practice fields behind the Oxley Center for their voluntary workouts.

The defense had been holding its own in recent workouts – a trend that continued on Wednesday. Jeff Van Camp had a relatively easy time marching the offense down the field on the first possession of the drive portion of the 7-on-7s, capping the drive with a 15-yard touchdown pass to Rob Housler.

The defense stiffened after that, ending Graham Wilbert’s drive on downs before intercepting a David Kooi pass at the goal line.

That interception by Marcus Bartels was one of the more memorable plays of the summer, and you can bet it is featured prominently in our 3-2-See video.
