Schnellenberger proud of young offensive line's performance in Thursday's victory over UAB.

BOCA RATON - FAU’s offensive line didn’t put together the prettiest game in Thursday’s victory at UAB. The young Owls did enough, though, to earn praise from coach Howard Schnellenberger.

“I’m proud of the offensive line,” Schnellenberger said. “They went out there and stuck together. They didn’t lose their mind, their confidence, didn’t lose anything. They just have to do it longer and become conversant with each other when making calls. They are going to be fine. They are going to be a very good offensive line.”

FAU traveled to Birmingham for the season opener without an offensive lineman who had ever started a Division I-A game. That line struggled, especially early in the game, and only quarterback Jeff Van Camp’s fleet footwork kept the Blazers from recording more than their three sacks.
