BOCA RATON – Cortez Gent said Wednesday that missing the last two games because of a suspension for conduct detrimental to the team was “tough.”
Gent, FAU's all-time leading receiver with 2,154 yards, was reinstated Tuesday by FAU coach Howard Schnellenberger.
Gent didn’t reveal why he was suspended, but pledged he will won’t be in any more trouble this season.
“Everything will be good,” Gent said. “There will be no allegations about Cortez Gent.”
Since being suspended prior to the Owls’ game at South Carolina, Gent had been practicing with the scout team. He was practicing Tuesday with the Owls’ offense.
“It feels good,” Gent said. "I am just ready to get things back on track. There won't be any rust. Everything should be fine.”
Gent said he watched FAU's loss at South Carolina on TV and didn’t attend the game vs. Louisiana-Monroe because it would have been too tough to sit in the stands and watch.
“There’s no way I could have gone and watched the game since I should have been out there playing,” Gent said. “It was a tough one.”
