It appears Florida Atlantic has added a junior college quarterback to its 2013 recruiting class as the Owls have dipped into the Mississippi junior college ranks again.
According to The Dawg Walk, a Mississippi State blog, East Mississippi Junior College quarterback Quez Johnson committed to FAU on Monday night.
“It was just a really good fit for me,” Johnson told The Dawg Walk. “It is really a nice environment down there. The thing that won me over is everyone down there wants to win. The campus was really nice. They are still building things down there too and the improvements will be great. I had a chance to watch them practice and it seems like a good fit for me. The thing that won me over was everyone’s desire to win and get better. They are all wanting to win and so am I and I think we can do that together.”
The 6-foot-2, 225-pound Johnson threw for 2,805 yards and 27 touchdowns this season, according to NJCAA statistics.
Last season FAU signed another JUCO quarterback from the state of Mississippi, but Melvin German did not play this season due to eligibility problems
Johnson is expected to graduate next month and could participate in spring drills.
