They aren't called the Ragin' Cajuns for nothing.
The Sun Belt Conference announced Tuesday that Louisiana-Lafayette safety Trevence Patt will be suspended for the first half of Saturday's game at Florida Atlantic.
Patt will miss the first half after he was ejected from the Ragin' Cajuns 52-30 victory vs. South Alabama on Saturday for a flagrant personal foul.
Sun Belt Conference rules dictate that “any coach or student-athlete ejected from a contest shall be suspended for a minimum of one contest” and that “the suspension shall be served during the institution’s next contest.”
ULL appealed the suspension and the penalty was reduced from an entire game to just a half, which is odd. If the rule dictates a player must sit out the whole game, it would stand to reason that the penalty should remain the same or be dropped altogether on appeal.
Patt, a sophomore, has started the last four games for ULL and has 21 tackles this season.
