Edwards comes to FAU from Miami-Ohio, where he coached special teams and linebackers in 2011. The defensive coordinator during Edwards' first year with the RedHawks was current FAU coordinator Pete Rekstis.

Rekstis and Edwards also coached together at Kent St. Edwards progressed from being a graduate assistant to defensive line coach during his eight seasons with the Golden Flashes.

Edwards began his coaching career as the linebackers coach at the College of Wooster in 2003.

By accepting a job with the RedHawks in 2010, Edwards returned to his alma mater. He played linebacker and defensive end at Miami-Ohio from 1999-2002.

The hiring won't become official until Edwards' paperwork is completed.
