Friederike Feil named Sun Belt Runner of the Week

After a strong performance at Penn Relays, Feil recognized by Sun Belt

Florida Atlantic track and field's Friederike Feil was named Sun Belt Runner of the Week, the conference office announced Tuesday.

 

Feil qualified for the NCAA East Regional in the 3,000 meter steeplechase for the third consecutive year. She finished third at the Penn Relays in a school record time of 10:33.82 on the first day of the meet.

 

Feil also helped set the school record in the 4x800 relay on the final day of the Penn Relays, teaming with Patricia Gumbs, Toni Jackson, and Charlene Luxama to improve upon the old mark by more than 26 seconds.

 

The 2009 Sun Belt Outdoor Track and Field Championships will be held in Murfreesboro, Tenn. on May 8-10.
