FAU team football camp draws good crowd

Had a little extra time on Sunday so I decided to head over to FAU to take a look at the high school camp the Owls hosted this weekend.
The Owls had a pretty good turnout. Nine teams from as far north as St. Lucie County and as far west as Fort Myers made their way to Boca Raton. King's Academy (former home of FAU Class of 09 linebacker Toney Moore), Olympic Heights, and Seminole Ridge represented Palm Beach County.
The top photo shows Howard Schnellenberger addressing the high school players at the end of the camp. The bottom photo is from the same speech, it's just a little wider to give an idea of how many players were present. And not all the players fit in the shot.
The final portion of the camp was a tournament style competition where teams were given eight plays to score as many times as they could from the 20. The team that started on offense then sent its defense onto the field and the opposing team received eight shots. The team with the most points advanced.
Seminole Ridge won the tournament in dramatic fashion when wide receiver Woodley Cadet snared a pass in the back of the end zone on the final play. Cadet has already commited to Central Florida, but that doesn't mean the Owls aren't still interested. I talked with Cadet and some other players of interest. We'll post that story on the main

Right now, I've got to run. Doug Flutie's band is playing at Boston's in Delray this evening. Not sure whether the band is any good, but if Flutie is going to be nice enough to come to my backyard, I may as well give a listen.
