There are three football players whose status is up in the air as the Owls prepare for spring drills to begin on Wednesday.
The biggest issues is that two of the players are starters on the new revamped offensive line, and they badly need the practice time.
Starting right tackle Max Karrick received a concussion in the car accident that seriously injured safety Austin Jensen, and starting right guard Eric Hansen is still recovering from the broken leg he received last season.
“We don’t know if they are going to be able to practice,” Owls coach Howard Schnellenberger said.
Even if Hansen and Karrick can participate, they likely will be very limited and they really need every snap they can get.
Also on the injured list as spring drills start is tight end Nexon Dorvilus (broken arm).
In addition, the Owls will be without defensive back Darrian Thomas, who has left the team.
Thomas, best remembered for his defensive extra point return of a blocked PAT, was always one of my favorite players and received playing time in nine games last season, usually as a nickelback.
