As far as walkoff hits go, it probably wasn't what FAU outfielder Andy Mee had in mind.

The same goes for pitcher Kevin Alexander, who didn't throw your garden variety complete game against UALR on Sunday.

What made Mee's hit and Alexander's victory strange was the Sun Belt Conference 10-run rule, which is only in effect on Sunday games.

Like many on Sunday, I wasn't too familar with the rule, but I am going to plead that I have an excuse - it hasnt come into play very often for FAU in the regular season.

Owl fans know the rule from last season's Sun Belt Conference Tournament when FAU won a game and lost a game brought to an early end by the 10-run rule.

I went to the archives and found that the Owls' last regular-season game called early because of the 10-run rule was on April 13, 2008 when FAU 10-runned Troy 17-6 in six innings.

So here's a a few details on what the rule meant. No doubt fans left the ballpark thinking FAU won 13-1. However, the game was, in fact, over once Mike Albaladejo crossed the plate to give FAU a 10-run advantage, making the final score was 11-1.

The rule also changed what would have been Mee's 3-RBI double to a single with one RBI.

Regardless, I'm sure Mee will take the victory.
