Garton to replace Everist on Friday

BOCA RATON – FAU manager John McCormack has decided to make a switch in his weekend rotation. Ryan Garton will take the mound on Friday when the Owls open a weekend series at Louisiana-Lafayette.
Garton (2-0, 3.63) will replace T
aylor Everist (1-4, 6.95), who has struggled in his last couple outings, lasting 1 2/3 innings two starts ago against Troy and less than an inning against Arkansas-Little Rock.
Garton (photo) has relieved Everist’s short outings both times, allowing three runs in seven innings against Troy to earn the win, and three runs in 5 1/3 innings against UALR.
Mike Gipson, owner of a 4-0 record and 1.80 ERA will remain the Saturday starter and Kevin Alexander (2-2, 6.04) will start on Sunday.
“I was happy to hear it because I’ve been trying my hardest, doing what I do, and I’ve been pretty good in long relief lately,” Garton said.
