It's a short edition of Owl Things Considered today due to a 1 p.m. baseball game, but we'd be remiss if we didn't give kudos to Mike Gipson for his performance on Saturday.

The day after a demoralizing 16-6 loss, all Gipson did was go out and throw a 5-hit shutout in a 11-0 victory.

He threw 75 strikes out of 115 pitches and there were only two innings where a
runner got past first base.

It was the first shutout for Gipson in his career and his third complete game.

His performance probably topped the seven-inning relief appearance by Ryan Garton at Troy, but it's amazing that the season is barely a month old and there have already been two outings like this.
