Saturday’s Daily Briefing: FAU’s back is against the wall

Thanks to a disappointing 18-16 loss to FIU on Friday, the Owls now have a loss in the Sun Belt Tournament and will be sent home with their next loss.
Maybe that’s exactly where FAU is the most dangerous.
After all, the Owls have blown big leads throughout this tournament and during the stretch run of the regular season. Usually, FAU has been able to rally back.
Not against FIU – or at least not in the 11th inning.
If the Owls are adept at bouncing back, they certainly will have to do that today vs. FIU, which teed off on Owls pitching for 22 hits and worked eight walks.
Taylor Everist will be on the mound for the Owls today vs. FIU, and fans back in South Florida will be able to watch him. Scheduling changes have forced the Sun Belt to make the FAU-FIU game the one that's being broadcast on CSS. Look for first pitch around 1:30.
Everist had a good outing vs. South Alabama in relief, but will be asked to bounce back after a rough regular season. If he mirrors what FAU has (mostly) done as a team, he'll have a chance to be a hero today.
