Monday’s Daily FAU Briefing: Sun Belt Media Days ready set to begin

I know I need professional help when I am actually looking forward to the next two days because of the opportunity to listen to Sun Belt coaches talk about the upcoming season during Sun Belt Media Days on Monday and Tuesday.
I just hope at least one coach will be “excited to get practice started.”
Anyway, I’m sure something interesting will develop out of the Media Days, which for the second year – and probably for the rest of eternity will be done by teleconference instead of allowing actual sportswriter interaction with coaches, athletic directors and players.
The Sun Belt isn’t the only conference to do it this way, but it’s a bad sign when the league doesn’t take its own football seriously enough to hold a measly media day.
It’s a shame for FAU, because Howard Schnellenberger was the star at the old Sun Belt Media Days and always had a gaggle of reporters around him taking notes. Now he’s just one of many whose talking head will be on a computer screen.
The FAU portion begins at 11 a.m. Monday and we'll let you know what was covered.
Anyway, get ready for the 2010 football season’s first big event.
