Saturday's Daily Briefing: Joyce gets to double up

Summer Saturdays always have me thinking about baseball, and the great baseball weekends always seemed to involve doubleheaders.
I’m in a doubleheader kind of mood today, so I figured this blog might as well be, too. Those who’ve made this blog a daily part of their morning reading know that we’ve been asking FAU coaches a couple simple questions about which FAU athletes could cross over sports.
If we’re looking for doubleheaders, that must mean it’s Joan Joyce’s turn. Joyce, of course, coaches both softball and golf for the Owls. She’s also a frequent spectator at other FAU sporting events, so she’s had plenty of time to scout FAU athletes.

SOFTBALL
1. Which athlete from another FAU sports team would you most like to have on your team and why?
JOYCE: I would take Toyria Mattear (photo, courtesy Owlpix.com) from the track team. She has all the speed we would need and we could teach her to slide.
2. Which player on your team do you think would have success on a different FAU sports team and why?
JOYCE: I would say Kerri Croney. Kerri works hard on her game and I believe she would work just as hard on her golf game.
GOLF
1. Which athlete from another FAU sports team would you most like to have on your team and why?
JOYCE: Since I suggested Kerri Croney from softball, I have to take my suggestion. Work ethic alone would make her successful.
2. Which player on your team do you think would have success on a different FAU sports team and why?
JOYCE: Jennifer Norton would be the best because she has previous experience playing softball.
