Thursday's FAU Daily Briefing: Linebacker Toney Moore returns to team

The Board of Trustees’ approval of the stadium financing plan was the big news from FAU football, yesterday. However, it wasn’t the only news.
This little nugget shouldn’t be overlooked: Linebacker Toney Moore is once again a member of FAU’s football team.
Moore skipped spring workouts after deciding to transfer from FAU. He said on Wednesday that he was dealing with “personal issues” at the time and admitted he received some bad advice.
A few days ago Moore changed his mind and asked Howard Schnellenberger if he could rejoin the team.
“He realized he made a mistake and decided he wanted to be a part of things so we are going to give him an opportunity,” FAU defensive coordinator/linebacker coach Kurt Van Valkenburgh said.
Moore, shown here last fall, attended Wednesday’s voluntary workout but couldn’t participate until after passing his physical.
Considered one of the top players in the Owls’ 2009 recruiting class, Moore chose FAU over Syracuse on signing day. Other BCS schools had been interested in the King’s Academy grad but backed off after he suffered a serious knee injury.
After undergoing surgery prior to graduating high school, Moore needed a second surgery during his freshman year to clean up lingering issues.
Moore’s return should make life Moore interesting for the equipment staff.
FAU signed Tallahassee-Lincoln running back Tony Moore – no “e” in the first name – as part of its 2010 recruiting class.

As alluded to above, Tuesday was one of the most important days in the history of FAU athletics. FAUOwlAccess.com was all over the story.
