Cox released by IFL's Reading Express

Well, that didn't last long.

Dino Cox's career with Reading of the Indoor Football League didn't last until the season opener.

Turns out the Express was more of a local.

Cox (photo, 58) sent me a text this morning saying Reading had released him as part of its final roster cuts. A few days ago Cox said coaches told him he's made the roster. Cox wrote that he wasn't given an explanation for the Express' change of heart.

He did write that he should have focused more on the defensive side of the ball instead of attempting to be the two-way player Reading was trying to make him.

Cox recorded 66 tackles, and four of his 13.5 tackles for loss were sacks, during his career at FAU, which ended in 2010.

He did not indicate whether he would continue to pursue a career in professional football.
