Decision to give up football is right one for Morgan

What’s news on Tuesday…

As first reported by OwlAccess.com’s Chuck King on Monday, FAU linebacker Yourhighness Morgan will give up football after multiple concussions.

It’s really a shame that Morgan won’t be playing for the Owls, but this is absolutely the right decision. Head injuries are a flash point right now for players from high school to the NFL.

CNN’s Dr. Sanjay Gupta had an excellent special report last month on head injuries on football called “Big Hits, Broken Dreams” that examined the issue and left you wondering if more needs to be done.

This situation obviously is not taken lightly by FAU or Morgan, who didn’t take the field in 2011. However, the decision that was reached is the best one for Morgan.

The good news is Morgan still could be active in the program, much like he was last season when he served as a de facto “coach” for the Owls linebackers.
