FAU fans can watch next two Owls road games
By Marcus Nelson
What's news on Thursday...
Want a taste of what life could be like in the new coast-to-coast merged conference formed by members of Conference USA and the Mountain West?
The next few days could do just that as fans will be able to watch the Owls play their next two road games just like they are playing a conference that actually has a substantial TV contract.
FAU’s game against Western Kentucky will be televised by Fox College Sports, available locally on Comcast, DirecTV and AT&T UVerse.
And Saturday’s game against Middle Tennessee will be available on ESPN3.com for those (like us) who want to spend a Saturday night huddled around a computer screen.
Let’s face it, in the Sun Belt, basketball games on TV are a rarity, but they are a good way to connect with a fan base.
Owls coach Mike Jarvis said he would like to get the Owls on TV more often even if it means buying time on Sun Sports or Fox Sports Florida as a way to showcase the program.
But to market the program in that way costs money. And I think we all know the chances of that happening are.
We will let you know if anything changes.
Updated at 10:28 a.m.: Just heard from FAU and the watch party is at the Deerfield Beach Duffy's.
Updated at 9:51 a.m.: FAU just announced on its Twitter account there will be a watch party at Duffy's tonight for the WKU game. However, it isn't clear which location (likely Deerfield Beach or possibly Boca Raton) will have the watch party, but I have asked FAU and should have an answer soon.
