FAU football's Junior Day to be same day as Spring Game

FAU coach Carl Pelini wants potential recruits to experience a full day at FAU. That's part of the reason he intends to hold FAU's spring football game at night.

Junior Day at FAU will be held in conjunction with the spring game on April 14, maximizing the amount of recruits who get an early look at the Owls.

On Junior Day, any current high school junior football player interested in learning more about the Owls will be able to come to FAU and get as true a sense as possible about what it's like to play football in Boca Raton.

“They will meet with academic advisers, the strength coach, talk to the compliance department about the NCAA clearing house and what they need to do, talk about the recruiting process and meet with position coaches as groups,” Pelini said.

Junior Days have become important recruiting tools for college football programs. The Florida Gators had theirs last week, reportedly netting a half dozen commitments.

FAU is scheduled to begin spring practices on Monday, March 19. That is also the same day the Owls will hold their Pro Day, which is when outgoing seniors show off their athletic abilities for NFL scouts. Alfred Morris, FAU's all-time leading rusher, said on Wednesday that he is planning to participate in those workouts.
