Plenty on line as FAU women face South Alabama tonight at The Burrow
By Marcus Nelson
The first of two big basketball games vs. South Alabama at the Burrow with implications on seeding in the Sun Belt Conference Tournaments takes place Wednesday.
Before the FAU men’s basketball team takes on the Jaguars on Thursday, the women’s team plays host to the Jaguars at 7 tonight.
The women are having a fine season under coach Chancellor Dugan, who could be making a case for Sun Belt’s Coach of the Year and are deadlocked in a tie for second place in the Sun Belt’s East Division with guess who? That’s right South Alabama. Both teams are 9-5 in the conference.
The women’s bracket differs from the men’s in that the top two teams in each division receive first-round byes so this game is very important to the Jags and the Owls.
There is only one game remaining after tonight and if FAU wins, it will be in a good position to earn a day of rest at the tournament. If the Owls lose, they can count on playing in the first round.
